1 Jul 2011 | Success for Abacus Shade Structures at National Awards in 2011
At the 2011 Australian Canvas and Synthetic Products Association ceremony for annual awards, which recognises a flair for innovation, design and execution in shade and tension structures Abacus Shade Structures in conjunction with Weathersafe in WA won the overall award for best shade structure in Australia. The prestigious awards were held in Sydney this year and once again the competition was very stiff.

1 Jul 2007 | Gosford RSL Workers Club, Gosford NSW
The traditional umbrella notion was flipped on its head for this project at Gosford RSL. Four 5m x 5m umbrellas were inverted allowing water to flow into the middle and not over the sides of the umbrellas. Membrane gutters between umbrellas catch rain water. Some redesigning and simplifying made these umbrellas installer friendly and also client friendly saving $1000's on comparable systems. The resultant visual effect was clean, uncluttered and dry.

The client's brief was to construct outdoor areas which would be attractive and integral to the club's refurbishment. The total project comprised three parts totaling 500sm - a waterproof barrel vault canopy with clear PVC drop blinds over a raised deck; a large curved awning; and a waterproof structure over the kiddies playground equipment.

1 Jan 2006 | Mollymook Golf Club
The brief from this south coast bowling club was to revitalise an outdoor sitting area with the installation of a structure which could resist southerly winds and become a relaxed outdoor dining area. It was to have minimal upright postwork and not low enough not to obstruct upper level views. Two posts hold the structure up.
