Description:
A 15m x 14m barrel vaulted shade cloth structure (210sm) was built over an ampitheatre seating area for this NSW College. Sunsmart Policy, which is adopted by NSW schools, aims to reduce exposure to ultra violet radiation, sunburn & long term risk of skin cancer to students. The fabric used to achieve greated protection was Monotec green 90% shade cloth. Height of the structure was based on preserving distant landscape views & provision of adequate shade during school hours. Tracking of seasonal solar movements determined where shade was needed. Pole heights varied from 2.5m - 5.0m from front to rear of the structure yet the overall height of the structure is relatively flat.
