Shellharbour Anglican College

A 15m x 14m barrel vaulted shade cloth structure was built over an ampitheatre seating area at this college. Sunsmart Policy, adopted by NSW schools aims to reduce exposure to UV radiation, sunburn & long term risk of skin cancer to students. The fabric used was Monotec green 90% shade cloth. Height of the structure was based on preserving distant landscape views & provision of adequate shade during school hours. Tracking of seasonal solar movements determined where shade was needed. Pole heights varied from 2.5m - 5.0m.
