Castle Hill Public School

The school had a very hot asphalt space as the main play/assembly area. It desperately needed shade. Sun Shade policies used by schools support provision of adequate shade in schools. This huge Claw Umbrella  structure provides plenty of shade.

Engineering ensured loads were correctly calculated as all loads were placed on only two posts. These telescopic mast posts spread the load  but gave the appearance of a graduating light weight structure.

Conflict with and safety for students was the highest priority. Some beams were 12m long and heavy equipment was required for lifting and excavation. Construction required compliance to risk management procedures for all stages of the project.
